Q. What adjectives would your friends use to describe you?
A. Bubbly, spiritual, creative artist, professional photographer, and loving.
Q. What is your favorite, most memorable, or funniest moment in the classroom?
A. My most memorable moment in teaching is that this year at Cornerstone, I found out that I got to teach with Brittany Toliver, one of my kindergarteners from years ago. She was one of my most artistic students when I taught elementary art. I can still picture the moment she went up to meet her kindergarten teacher like it was yesterday! What a blessing it is to know that one of my own students is following one of my passions in teaching as a career.
Q. What is your hidden talent or something students might be surprised to know about you?
A. I am highly skilled in ceramics and pottery and was enrolled at the McNay Art Museum back when it was the McNay Art Institute since second grade. I also taught college digital art classes at San Antonio College in the Alamo Community College District right out of college.
Q. What do you hope students take away from your class/instruction?
A. I hope that students know how much God loves them and that they are God's masterpiece, created to do good works that HE prepared long ago as written in Ephesians 2:10. Most importantly, and spoken in my testimony to them, that no matter what struggles they may be going through...this life is to prepare for the next life, the better life. So, no matter what struggles one is going through, it is nothing compared to what is waiting for them in heaven and God would not give you anything in this world that he did not think you could handle. So never give up!
Q. What do you do to relax or enjoy your time outside of school?
A. I LOVE to paint and help others with wedding plans. I paint in acrylic and oil on canvas, and one of the things on my bucket list is to have an art and photo art exhibit of all the pictures I have painted and taken of people throughout the years to help others stay happy.
Q. What is your favorite Bible verse?
A. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways trust in Him and He shall direct your path." - Proverbs 3:5-6
Q. Is there something else you would like to add thathasn’t been asked?
A. I wanted to share that I had a very difficult upbringing. Each time I looked back into my past, it still hurt. One summer, I came across this quote while on vacation and wanted to share it with others: “The time to be happy is now, today is not a rehearsal.” When I read that, I realized that if all I had in my life was Jesus, that was all I needed. But it made me reflect on what I have now in life, and I know now that I am super blessed to be who I am, where I am, and whose I am.
