Rebecca Jones, Curriculum and Instruction Director

Q. How long have you been in education?
A. 30 years

Q. What adjectives would your friends use to describe you?
A. Trustworthy, compassionately honest, adventuresome, attentive, enthusiastic reader

Q. What is your favorite, most memorable, or funniest moment in the classroom?
A. When I first got into education, I was an elementary teacher at a bilingual campus. The year I got married my students asked me why I was going to say my  “vowels” to my husband at our wedding... they thought that was silly because as a grown man he should know what a vowel was. *We talked through what wedding vows are. :)

Q. What is your hidden talent or something students might be surprised to know about you?
A. People might be surprised to know that I never took chemistry in high school. Also, I have to really think before saying the word “caterpillar” or it will come out “callapitter.”

Q. What do you hope students take away from your class/instruction?
A. As a Christian educator I want all students to walk away each year knowing their teacher poured into them academically and Biblically, prayed for them on a regular basis, and truly got to know them as people not just students.

Q. What do you do to relax or enjoy your time outside of school?
A. I love the beach! My family and I will often drive down to Mustang Island just for the day. The sound of the waves allows my shoulders to drop and my body to rest.

Q. What is your favorite Bible verse?
A. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all that you do, and He will show you which path to take.” - Proverbs 3:5-6

Q. Is there something else you would like to add that hasn’t been asked?
A. The group of students I had my first year as a teacher here at CCS are SENIORS this year!
