CCS Instrumental Program
The CCS instrumental music program points its members and its audiences toward their Creator and toward the joy of performing to His glory. Instrumental music students learn to analyze and interpret music, serve others as they communicate through performance, and develop their talents and exercise the gift of music.
Instrumental classes and performances are lead by world-class instructors.
Formal instrumental training begins in Elementary. In earlier grades, students learn a variety of simple instruments in their General Music class. Our fifth-grade band students learn the foundations needed to succeed in instrumental music studies in Middle School and beyond. Elementary students perform every spring.
Middle School Band is offered to students in grades 6 through 8. In addition, some upper Middle School students may be invited to participate in the High School Marching Band. Middle School students perform an annual Christmas Concert and an annual Spring Concert.
CCS High School has four instrumental music ensembles, including Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Chapel Band, and Jazz Band. Students learn selections from standard repertoire, foster technique on their instrument, develop sight-reading skills, analyze music from all genres, identify musical arguments, and hone performance skills. The High School Symphonic Band performs multiple concerts per year.
