K5 - 5th Grade Summer Reading
One of the best ways you can support your child’s academic success next school year is to keep their mind busy this summer. There is a common “summer slump” that occurs if a child does not remain engaged during the summer break. We all need some down time during the summer, but we strongly recommend that our students keep their minds and bodies active. Engagement in summer enrichment activities will set your child up for greater academic success in the fall. CCS has the following to offer for your consideration:
REQUIRED Summer Reading Assignment
All students K5-5th grade are expected to complete the Summer Reading assignment designated for their grade level. Please click on the link below to access the summer reading assignment for your child’s incoming grade level. Summer Reading Logs are due on Friday, August 23, 2019.
“My Summer Reading Life” is a Padlet discussion board where we encourage students to post their thoughts and experiences from their summer reading. Students may access the Padlet discussion board at the link below.
NOTE: Scholastic.com is a supplemental resource that is OPTIONAL for student participation. It requires a Username and Password which the students should have received at school when the summer reading assignments were distributed in class. The site provides games and other incentives to support student reading. Please contact the office if you need assistance with a username and password.
