Philosophy of Admissions

The ultimate purpose of our school is to provide a Christ-centered, quality education. Therefore, we accept Christian students of families who profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission of an applicant and discontinue enrollment of a student if a student (or their parents or legal guardians with whom a student lives), engages in, espouses, or condones, sexual expression apart from God’s plan.

General Requirements

  • Priority will be given according to the date and time applications are received.
  • Priority will be given to returning students during the specified re-enrollment period of each year. Enrollment is opened to all other applicants during the rest of the year.
  • Applicants in K4 through 1st grade must show developmental readiness, and must be the appropriate age, as follows, by September 1st:
    - K-4: 4 years old
    - Kinder: 5 years old
    - 1st Grade: 6 years old
  • Cornerstone Christian Schools will not, normally, accept new students into K4 or K5 after the end of the first quarter unless extenuating circumstances are presented and approved by the administration.
  • Applicants may not be under behavioral probation, suspension, expulsion, or any other behavioral conditions from their previous school.
  • Applicants must live with their parents or legal guardian.
  • High school seniors will not be accepted in the second semester of their senior year unless extenuating circumstances are presented and approved by the administration.
  • Applicants must be compliant with all immunizations and physicals as required by the State of Texas. Physicals are required for all new students, returning students entering 6th or 9th grades and/or all athletes in grades 6th through 12th. If student immunizations and/or physicals expire, the parent is responsible for obtaining all required immunizations at the time of expiration. If a student is not compliant with immunization and/or physicals prior to the first day of school, students will not be able to attend school until they are compliant even if all other paperwork is completed and tuition is paid. Students who are non-compliant will not receive a schedule of classes or be assigned to a teacher until proof of compliance has been given to the school clinic.

Spiritual & Academic Requirements

  • At least one parent or legal guardian must be a professing, practicing Christian
  • Applicants, grades 3rd to 12th, must be able to give a fundamental statement of faith (i.e., who is Jesus, what is sin, etc.). Expectations are based on child’s developmental level.
  • Applicants must be able to present recommendations from their pastor or Sunday school teacher, or some other recognized spiritual authority, per approval from administration.
  • Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality: We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. This belief also accounts for (1) dressing in conformance with one’s biological sex; (2) using the restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities conforming to one’s biological sex. “Biological sex” means the condition of being male or female, which is determined by a person’s chromosomes, and is identified at birth by a person’s anatomy. Those who reject their biological sex are sometimes referred to as “transgender.” We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman in an exclusive union, as delineated Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of the bounds of marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality and sexual conduct outside the marital union of one man and one woman (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1Cor.6:9-10.) We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Cornerstone Christian Schools (CCS) as an expression of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the families of CCS and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by CCS, in any capacity, agree to and abide by the Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22.) We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11.)
  • The Sanctity of Human life: We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor doctrines of Cornerstone Christian Schools.
  • Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct:
    The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Cornerstone Christian Schools’ faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church is the school’s final interpreti.ve authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
    Please note students, families and/or employees who fail to abide by the above policies, and those contained in their respective handbooks, will be subject to denied enrollment/re-enrollment, expulsion or termination, as the case may be.

Academic Requirements

  • Applicants to high school may not have more than two failed credits; must have been retaken and passed. Elementary and middle school students may not have more than two failed classes.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of a “C” (2.0) average (on a 4.0 scale) in core courses.
  • Applicants must be able to present recommendations from their previous principal and teacher, or some other recognized educator, who can attest to the student’s academic ability and/or performance, per approval from administration.

Send recommendation forms to the student’s principal and teacher at the student’s previous school. These individuals should then return the forms directly to our admissions office at:

Application

A Cornerstone Christian Schools application must be completed via our online application. Click the ENROLL TODAY BUTTON BELOW to get started. The application is considered complete when all required forms are returned to the Admissions Office and the application fee has been paid.

Assessment

K4 & K5: Students applying for K4 and K5 are assessed prior to the interview with the Principal. Acceptance is based upon school readiness as determined by the assessment results and interview with the Principal.

1st- 5th : Students applying for all other Elementary grade levels are assessed prior to the interview with the Principal. Acceptance is based upon grade level standards met as determined by the assessment results, recommendations, Report card(s), Statement of faith and interview with the Principal. Student’s assessment results that are more than one grade level below the student’s current grade may be considered for the lower grade level upon Administrative approval.       

6th-12th: Secondary students applying to grades 6-12 must submit standardized test scores that indicate a performance level equivalent to, but no more than one grade level below the student’s current grade. All students applying to grades 6-12 must also complete an additional assessment given by our testing coordinator. Acceptance is based upon grade level standards met as determined by the assessment results, recommendations, report card(s), transcript review, statement of faith and interview with the Principal.

Principal's Interview

Once testing is complete and has been reviewed by the principal, a formal interview will be scheduled, which must include the applicant and at least one parent or guardian. The applicant and parent will then be either offered or denied admission based upon all the information supplied during the admissions process.

Tuition Contract

Upon acceptance into the school, the parents will meet with the business office to complete financial paperwork.
