HOCO is here!

Warriors across campus have been buzzing for weeks about the arrival of the highly anticipated Homecoming Week. Powderpuff games, dress-up days, and the Homecoming football game at the end of the week have students and staff excited and fired up for the week’s activities.

After students voted, the Homecoming dress-up days were announced:

Monday: Game-Day Gear

Tuesday: In Your Dreams PJ Day

Wednesday: Match-Up Day

Thursday: Vacation Destination Dress Day

Ultimate Warrior Spirit Day

“I'm excited for Twin Day,” said Junior Mason Novogradac. “Because everyone just goes all out on Twin Day, and I see everyone in these big elaborate costumes and just like stuff that looks planned out, and it makes me excited to see what the students have planned.”

Many students are excited for the big pep rally and the Powderpuff Games throughout the week, but most of all, students look forward to the big game at the end of the week.

Math Department Head Karen Ruvalcaba said, “I love the Friday night lights and the spirit and the camaraderie of the school.”

Homecoming is a special time for many students, particularly Seniors, who are excited and bittersweet when it comes to experiencing their final Homecoming week. Most Seniors like to make the most of their final Homecoming by sparing no effort when it comes to events and costumes.

“I'm definitely going to go all out with like dress-ups,” said Senior Maryn Villarreal. “The past few years, I haven't been all crazy and stuff like that, but this year I am, and I'm getting a mum. I haven't gotten one the past four years, and I'm getting one this year.”

Homecoming is a very special time for a lot of people, but it is also a special time for the school as a whole. All the festivities and events of the week are exciting ways to bring people across campus together.

“I think it's the idea of the unity of the campus coming together and celebrating and honoring alumni, because that's kind of the idea,” Ruvalcaba said. “Homecoming. I love all of the traditions.”
