Warrior Digital Learning Initiative

As we continue to facilitate the best learning environment for our students, CCS teachers, administration, and technology specialists have investigated ways to increase student achievement through the use of technology. As a result, we have adopted G-Suite for Education and strategically use electronic devices throughout the school. Through this initiative, our technology programs have exceeded our expectations. CCS is poised to take the next step in transforming the way our students create, collaborate, communicate, and critically think.

The Warrior Digital Learning Initiative ensures that every student at CCS, preschool K4 through grade 12, has access to an Internet-connected device in order to achieve the following goals:

  • Foster innovative methods of creation, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking for students and teachers at the college-preparatory level.
  • Redefine student-learning experiences.
  • Increase opportunities for analysis of student performance and achievement data through the use of digital formative, summative, and standardized assessments.Improve access to learning materials and digital curriculum for all students.
  • Increase the speed and frequency of teacher-to-student and student-to-teacher feedback on assignments and projects.

Through this special initiative, we are propelling our students further and equipping them with the tools to succeed now and in the future.

Bring Your Own Device Program

Through this initiative, Cornerstone Christian Schools requires all secondary students to bring an Internet-connected device to school every day. Our elementary students use iPads and Chromebooks provided by the school or may choose to bring their own devices.

In general, an approved device must:
Have capability to connect to wireless Internet
Be equipped with a camera
Be equipped with a microphone
Be equipped with a keyboard for typing
Be able to hold a charge for the duration of the school day

Below, please find some recommended resources to assist in purchasing a new device for your student. Parents are not required to buy the specific models from any of the vendors listed below. Cornerstone Christian Schools is not affiliated with any vendor on this page; we simply post this list as a courtesy. All transactions are between the family and the vendor. This page will be updated periodically.

Tips for purchasing:

  • We recommend that parents purchase at least a three-year warranty or Applecare for Apple products.
  • We recommend a protective carrying case.
  • We strongly recommend that parents have the device inscribed or clearly labeled with the student’s name.
  • Apple often has summer specials for students. Past specials have included large discounts with the inclusion of headphones or iTunes cards.
  • Research and determine the level of your investment. How long would you like the device to last? How much do you plan to invest financially now versus later?
  • Establish a family Responsible Use Policy with your student. When will they be allowed to use the device outside of school? Will you allow them to play/install games on their school devices?

The Value-Added Device Plan provides your student(s) with a school-owned, up-to-date, safe, and protected device for a monthly fee of $30. Rental periods are for the entire academic year (10 months) and are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Included at no extra cost are the following benefits that will be of special interest to parents/guardians:

24/7 secure, cloud-based Internet. Students are protected regardless of location. Parents have access to a portal with reports and notifications regarding student usage.
Cyberbullying/Self Harm detection. Advanced Internet filters use algorithms to send warnings regarding cyberbullying and self-harm indicators.

Unlimited Accidental Protection. Student devices are covered in the event of accidental damage. No matter the accidental damage that occurs, our technology experts will repair and/or replace the damaged device. NOTE: Repeated, malicious or excessive damage may result in repair costs being assessed to the parent or the party responsible for the damage. Final determination will rest with administration.

Classroom Management. These devices are equipped with special classroom management software that enables teachers to ensure that the student is using the device responsibly in the classroom.

Up-to-date technology. Devices available in the Value-Added Device Plan are regularly updated and maintained by our technology experts. Student participants in the plan receive timely, current upgrades.

How it Works

Complete this form to indicate your intention to OPT IN to the Value-Added Device Plan. For devices rented for the full school year, your RenWeb account will be charged $30 per month for 10 months (August - May); that amount is NON-REFUNDABLE. Mid-year rentals will be charged $30 for each month rented. The full $30 fee will be charged for every month -- not prorated for partial months. Plan participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Devices, accessories, and charging lockers (if rented) will be distributed at the Warriors on Campus event.

Students are free to take their devices home or leave them in their charging lockers (if rented). Students may visit the Technology Center Help Desk to report a stolen device or request repairs.

At the end of the academic year, students will return the device and accessories to the school. The cost for missing accessories or for those returned in poor condition will be charged to the family’s RenWeb account. At the beginning of the next school year, students who continue to participate in the plan will be assigned another device in excellent working condition. They are not guaranteed the same device as the year before.
Theft and loss claims will be examined on a case-by-case basis. If the device is lost or misplaced due to malicious or negligent action, the family may be responsible for the full purchase price of the device and accessories.

We offer a limited quantity of specially-equipped charging lockers.

These lockers enable students to charge their devices in a secure place when not in use. A limited number of charging lockers will be available to rent for the duration of the school year (10 months) at a cost of $12 per month. (NOTE: These fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Lockers are rented on a first-come, first-served basis.)

What is the Warrior Digital Learning Initiative?

The Warrior Digital Learning Initiative ensures that all students and classrooms have equitable access to digital and online resources in every class every day. The program functions differently at different grade levels:

  • Preschool K4 - Grade 1 - All classrooms have access to sets of iPads. Students will not take devices home.
  • Grade 2 - 5 - All classrooms have access to Google Chromebooks.
  • Grades 6 - 12 - All parents/guardians are responsible for providing an Internet-connected device for their own child(ren). All students must bring devices and are allowed to take them home.

Will I be required to buy a device for my student?

If you do not already own a device that meets the minimum specifications, you will need to purchase one for the school year.

What type of device should I purchase for my student?

Families are free to choose the type of device their student(s) will bring as long as it meets minimum specifications.

How will my student use devices in the classroom?

Usage will look different in different content areas and grade levels, but students will use their device nearly every day of the school year. The following is a list of common classroom usages:

  • Students will receive and turn in digital assignments in all classes via Google Classroom.
  • Students will access digital curriculum.
  • Students will collaborate and communicate via G Suite.
  • Students will engage in online formative, summative, and standardized assessments.
  • Students will create digital projects that were previously impossible using only traditional resources. These include e-portfolios, digital field trips, interactive websites/presentations, and much more.
