Peter Barnes is blessed to have served students and families in Christian Schools for twenty-nine years. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Louisiana State University in Music & Fine Arts with advanced graduate studies in Foreign Language and Educational Leadership. Mr. Barnes taught high school French, Bible, Speech & Theater, and Music for sixteen years at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge. An ordained minister, he has served as Worship Pastor and Director of Music in churches for more than twenty-two years. Mr. Barnes transitioned into school leadership in 2002 and has since served in numerous capacities including Assistant Principal, Summer School Principal, High School Principal, and Headmaster. He has served as an officer in numerous professional organizations including the Southeast Louisiana Rally Association, the Baton Rouge Area Official’s Association and as President of the Louisiana Association of Independent Schools. Additionally, he has served on numerous school accreditation review teams for AdvancED. Mr. Barnes has been recognized by Jostens and Baton Rouge Parents Magazine as an outstanding educational leader.
Peter Barnes is married to Gina, an Elementary School teacher, and they have two children, Ethan and Emmalee. The Barnes family enjoys travel, riding bikes, cooking, and reading classics. Peter believes that as Elementary Principal he is called to create and foster an atmosphere of obedience to Jesus’ command in John 21:15 to “feed HIS lambs.” He embraces the opportunity through education to help parents nurture God’s most precious possessions, HIS lambs. Mr. Barnes is proud to have been born in Louisiana, is blessed to now live in Texas, and is honored to be called a Cornerstone Warrior!
